Hair Restauration / Loss
Process and Side Effects
Immediate post-operative side effects
An analgesic and anti-inflammatory treatment will be prescribed for the 2 or 3 days that follow operation.
We also recommend that the patient shampoo as of the day following the operation, keeping in mind not to rub the grafted zone during the first few days. This is the best prescription. The patient should use a shampoo for "sensitive skin."
Process
Small flakes appear as of the 3rd day and last about 8 to 15 days thereafter. With the help of daily showers, these pieces fall off in approximately one week, thus encouraging the growth of the grafted hair.
The loss of this hair always worries patients intently follow the evolution of this process. They should however be reassured and forewarned before the operation, as what counts is the graft of the capillary bulb. In fact, it is this part which produces a hair in a matter of hours. This normal phenomenon should not be understood as the definitive loss of the graft.
Hair growth occurs as of the 15th day and continues through the 6th month. Each hair will grow at its own rhythm, independent of other hairs. A routine check-up is necessary around the 15th day, after 3-4 months, and at 6 months post-operation to check final results.
